ABOUT THE ARTIST
Kylie Sams is an Australian abstract artist known for her expressive, intuitive approach to painting.
Her work is rich in energy, emotion and contrast - capturing raw feeling and movement through layered colour and dynamic mark-making. Guided by instinct her paintings speak to vulnerability, freedom, and the complexity of human experience.
A lifelong creative, Kylie brings a strong design sensibility to her practice, along with an openness to discovery. While she focuses primarily on pure abstraction, she also explores abstract landscapes and botanical themes, allowing these forms to emerge organically through the process. She works predominantly in acrylics and mixed media and has a particular love for painting on large-scale canvases.
Rooted in exploration, Kylie’s art practice is imaginative and evolving - often shifting through different techniques and materials to push creative boundaries and keep the process alive. She finds liberation in abstract art and embraces the unknown as an essential part of her creative journey, creating work that reflects honesty, depth, and an openness to exploration.
“My hope is that my work evokes a sense of deep connection in others - whether through inspiration, reflection, or enquiry.”
Kylie was born and raised in the Hunter Valley, NSW, and now lives and works in the Hawkesbury region on the outskirts of Sydney, Australia. Her original abstract paintings are held in private collections across Australia and internationally, and have featured on several Australian television programs and in media publications.
